Project 1 A shelter for one

In a group of 5, we have to build a 1: 1 model of the shelter and an A3 bound report complete with visuals, sketches and inclusive of the detailing and progressive documentation of our project. The project objective is for us to experiencing and understanding skeletal construction is important as it is one of the most widely used structures for building support. As a designer we should know how skeletal structure works.

By completing these project, we have developed our thinking and problem solving skills as we have to do a lot of research on the joining methods of frame components, such as columns, beams, roofing structure. Besides, communication, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills also have been trained as we were doing in this group.ere doing this in group.

Project 2
Understanding Forces in Solid Structure and Surface Structure

In a group of 5, we have to propose 3 buildings that have combination of skeletal, solid and surface construction then produce a model showing the different structural systems used in the above building. Besides, individually, we are required to do a 2D detail drawing (isometric, section) to show different parts of the selected building. The project objective is for us to understand solid structure and surface structure and its relevant structural components as well as how a solid structure and surface structure reacts under loading.

By completing these project, we have developed thinking and problem solving skills as we have to do a lot of research on this building and compared all the information due to the fidelity and originality. Besides, communication, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills also have been trained as we were doing this in group.
