Project 1 Paying it Forward
Remember the first day we went to visit the site at Salak Selatan, the first impression the site gave me was terrible. A field that covered with rubbish and long grass, even mattress and furniture can be found on the site. I was scared by the terrible site that we have chosen. We spent lots of time to totally clean up the field before we started to design a garden. I feel pleased during our work because all of my teammates did a very nice cooperation all the time even though we were working under a horrible sun. Moreover, our progress was influenced by the weather, it was really bad when raining heavily but we have to continue our work with raincoat. Time flies, we done our big project, I am satisfied with the garden and the outcome that brings to us and the resident. After these environment sustainable design, I believe it will enlighten people that we should have taking action to protect our environment. It was a nice experience, I did learn something from this project. Lastly, thanks all my teammates.
There are many ways in which designers experience a community. The purpose of this project is to further develop
these community skills. By working in teams I am given the opportunity to deepen our team work abilities. I
create and adapt strategies that allow me to benefit from the knowledge of our team and contribute to that
knowledge. These skills are crucial in our ability to develop good professional design practice in the future.
Therefore, in participating in this project I am asked not only to engage with the theme, but also to embrace,
examine and reflect on the notions of community as its active member. Through interactive and dynamic exercises,
I gained a deeper understanding of environment and my responsibility to community, practice solving real-world
challenges using creative ideas.
My task is to identify an environmental-community related issue in our local community. The issues have to be
genuine and any solution provided by our team must have an impact to the environment and community. We
need to visit our project site more then once to collect a variety of observation before making suggestions or proposals.
