Project 2 Community Development & Engagement Centre
This project requires students to propose a communal facility accommodating several related functions such as meeting and
learning in a suburban context. Students are to develop their own concept for the communal space based on their research of
the area and the community’s needs. This working method is intended to have the student design in near full-freedom;
however they will be required to make an informed response firstly to the surrounding context. Their capacity to respond
architecturally and contextually to this task will form part of the basis upon which they will be marked.
This project calls for a design of a simple public building with some complexity that includes the complexity of site topography
and vegetation, socio-cultural events, and variety of strategies for sustainable design.
It explores design solutions that harness environmental qualities and conditions for human and environment sustainability
through a project with a specific community of users. Students explore design solutions that reduce environmental impact
utilising clustered spatial typology and passive design approach. The design work should contribute to and merge
harmoniously with nature and the site, and provide the best of experiences for the users.

Project 1: Green Info-Shelter : Exploring The Environment Poetics
In this project, in a group of 3, we are required to investigate the given site. The site is located in Taylor's University Lakeside campus, Sport Center.We conducted a site analysis recording the site context and natural environment, also understanding the user needs by observing the site activities. Then we turn the site issues into design solutions and translate in to our green info shelter.

Mah Meri Culture village
South of Port Klang is Pulau Carey, a combination of oil palm plantations and orang asli outpost. The island is home to the indigenous Mah-Meri people, who are known for their intricate wood carvings of spirit animals, which are sometimes used for spiritual healing. Made from nyireh batu, a rare mangrove hardwood found on the island, the sculptures have been known to fetch pretty prices in the art world. For a different day out, drive over and seek out the wood carvers. (source from : http://www.timeout.com/kuala-lumpur/things-to-do/mah-meri-cultural-village)
